University High School AFC are pleased to announce our strategic plan for seasons 2025 – 2027

Through close collaboration with our club’s members, four key priorities have been outlined to guide decision making and drive positive change at the club over the next three years. This inaugural strategic plan represents a significant step forward for our club and will guide our committee’s decision making in the short, medium, and long term.

The plan is designed to ensure UHS AFC continues to be a safe, welcoming, and inclusive environment for all, while promoting player development and fostering success both on and off the field. As we move forward, this plan will help us continue to build a strong and vibrant future for our club and all its members.

Introducing Our New Combined Under-19’s Team

UHS-VU and Flemington Colts are thrilled to announce Rob Green as the coach for our new joint U/19 men’s team in 2025! With a strong coaching background, including leading Aberfeldie Premier Women’s to a Grand Final and starting his own footy program – Game Sense Footy, Rob is ready to take on this new role.

2024 Coaching Announcement – Men’s Reserves

BAZBALL COMES TO AN END

UHS would like to thank Abbas Gulam for such an incredible season coaching the Men’s Reserves side, since stepping in Midway through the year.

Unfortunately Baz let us know that he cannot continue next year due to wanting to family commitments.

You will be missed Bas –the Gandhi / Mandala quotes, the winning streak, the full ground drills, the all round good bloke.

HOT SOUP ORDER

We are fortunate to have a great person in the wings to take on 2024 Mens Reserves Coach role – Scott “Soupie” Campbell.

Stepping in as an assistant midway through this year he has done a great job getting around the players and supporting Bas. Its been a great intro to the role and is ready to use this set up to hit the ground running for 2024.

Congrats and thanks Soupie for taking it on!

2024 Coaching Announcement – Men’s Seniors

HEAD COACH

On the eve of Senior Men’s Prelim Final the club would like to announce Paul Rocke has been reappointed for the 2024 season as the Senior Men’s Head Coach

Paul has been instrumental in creating an environment that gets the best out of the men’s players at UHS these past 2 years. The buy-in and performance this year is self-evident and we look for to continue to build on this in 2024.

Well done Paul on the re-appoint and your achievements so far.

ASSISTANT COACHES

Thanks also to the assistant coaches this year Michael Healey, Ross Gemmill, James Dimattina and James McGee. It has been a great team and all of you have brought your unique strengths and views on footy to help us improve as a club. The club thanks you for your efforts this year.

Looking forward to 2024, all the assistant coaches are open to be involved in various ways next year but have also granted the club some time to explore adding fresh faces to the coaching team next year as well. Thank you to them.

Women’s Team are Premiers!

UHS-VU Women’s team have won the premiership over Old Carey 4.2.26-2.3.15

We could not be more proud of our Women’s Team, clinching the first Women’s Premiership Title in the club’s history.

A whole team performance secured 3 quick goals in the 2nd term, against an unrelenting Old Carey side, to secure the lead for the remainder of the game. Lucy Banks received the Best On Ground medal in the victory. Other fantastic performances were had by Abbey Mills, Amy Park, and Maya Gorman.

Coaching Reappointment 2024 – Womens Coaching Team

SENIOR COACH
UHS is proud to announce on the eve of our 1st Womens Grand Final Appearance that Alex Henry has signed on to be Senior Coach of the Women’s Team and Program in 2024.
Alex has done an incredible job leading the coaching team and building momentum and buy in over the course the season. We are looking forward to seeing this continue to grow under Alex’s leadership and others in the years to come.

ASSISTANT COACHES

Very happy to announce Maya Gorman and Darren Smith will also be returning in 2024, continuing on their roles as assistant coaches for the Women’s Senior team.

Maya & Darren have done an amazing job as coaches, supporting and complementing Alex and bring depth, ideas, strategy and investment to our Womens football program.

Women’s Team Secures Grand Final Spot!

UHS-VU Women’s team after finishing first on the ladder defeated Preston Bullants 19-10 in a thrilling Preliminary Final on the weekend. The team pulled together in the final quarter to outscore Preston 7-0.

They come up against Old Carey on Saturday, September 2nd for a top of the table, Grand Final clash. Get down to Piranha Park (Coburg) for a 1:30PM start!

Our 3rds team completed their season with a semi final loss to Mazenod. After a tumultuous start to the year it was great to see the thirds compete in finals footy!

Seniors and Reserves begin their finals campaigns this weekend, Sunday September 3rd. After a make-or-break game the Seniors were able to hold off Therry Penola and proceed to a Semi Final. The Reserves now face off against 4th place Oakleigh in the first round. The actions starts from 12PM, Garvey Oval (Bundoora).
